Amo strikes early to catapult Demons

HEUVELTON — Dylan Amo generated 22 of his 27 points in the first half as the Hermon-DeKalb boys basketball team rolled to a 68-48 win over Heuvelton in a Northern Athletic Conference West Division game Thursday.

The Demons (1-1 overall, 1-0 league) ran out to a 38-24 lead and never looked back. Amo also chipped in six steals and three assists. Jon Peters added 14 points for Hermon-DeKalb.

David Putman, Zach Limoges and Trevor Brothers each scored 11 points for Heuvelton (1-1, 0-1).

ST. REGIS FALLS 46,

COLTON-PIERREPONT 41

Billy LaBounty tallied 15 points and Steve Brown, Ryan Susice, and Taylor Artus each scored eight points to pace the Saints (1-1, 1-0) to an East Division victory over the Colts in Colton.

Mike Reilly scored 16 for Colton-Pierrepont (1-1, 0-1). Cole Hennessy added eight.

CHATEAUGAY 57, ST. LAWRENCE 37

Ian Henderson scored all 13 of his points for the Bulldogs in the the fourth quarter of an East Division win over the Larries in Brasher Falls.

Jacob Layton and Eli Franze each scored 10 points for Chateaugay (2-0, 1-0).

Ryan Cole led St. Lawrence (0-1) with 10 points.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

ST. LAWRENCE 48, CHATEAUGAY 32

Ashley Thayer tallied 15 points and Danielle Smith produced 12 points, including a trio of 3-pointers, to lift the Larries (3-0 overall, 1-0 league) over the Bulldogs in a Northern Athletic Conference East Division matchup in Chateaugay.

Marissa Cook scored 10 points for Chateaugay (0-1).

MADRID-WADDINGTON 32,

SALMON RIVER 22

Eight players scored during an East Division game at Fort Covington to help the Yellow Jackets (3-0, 1-0) remain unbeaten.

Salmon River (1-3, 0-1) led 11-5 after the first quarter, but couldn't post more than five points in any of the remaining quarters.

BOYS HOCKEY

NORWOOD-NORFOLK 7,

SALMON RIVER 2

Thomas Plumb had six points to lead the Flyers to a high-scoring win over the Shamrocks in a Northern Athletic Conference Division II game in Norfolk.

Tyler Murray added two goals and an assist for Norwood-Norfolk (2-1 overall, 2-0 league).

Oakley Thomas had a goal and two assists for Salmon River (1-1).

WRESTLING

CANTON 33, OFA 29

Cody Cleveland recorded a 26-second pin over Mike Crowley at 171 pounds to give the Golden Bears a come-from behind win over the Blue Devils in a Northern Athletic Conference match in Ogdensburg.

Canton (1-1) received pins from Hans Kuno (119 pounds), Dillon Woodruff (135) and Ed Foote (145). OFA (0-2) pins came from Josh Heaton (130), Andrew Cole (140) and Nevin Parish (150).
