Thousand Islands shatters Sackets Harbor's league run

CLAYTON — Amber Dibble generated 16 points and grabbed 12 rebounds Monday as Thousand Islands won a Frontier League girls basketball crossover game, 49-38, handing Sackets Harbor its first league loss in nearly three years.

Bit Hall added 13 points, seven rebounds and six assists to help Thousand Islands (4-0) remain unbeaten. Kristin McGraw had 10 points.

Ashley Butcher turned in 12 points for Sackets Harbor (4-1), which dropped its first league game since the 2006-07 season.

INDIAN RIVER 58, APW 30

Jessica Dailey finished with 19 points and seven assists as the Warriors won a crossover game at Philadelphia.

Taylore Kelsey had 16 points for Indian River (3-0, 1-0), and Tykesa Williams hauled in nine rebounds.

Zana Gervaise led the Rebels (0-4, 0-3) with 11 points.

POTSDAM 45, CARTHAGE 33

Veronica Sapp scored 13 points and Natalie Carranza added 12 points to lift host Potsdam (1-2) to a nonleague victory.

Marcella Sims provided 10 points for the Comets (1-1), and was her team's only player to reach double figures. Carthage struggled early in the game, scoring just a point in the first quarter.

ALEXANDRIA 33, SANDY CREEK 14

The Purple Ghosts opened up a 12-point lead early, and earned a nonleague win at Alexandria Bay.

Selina Sochia led Alexandria (2-4) with 11 points, and Kelsy Heschke added 10.

The Comets are 0-4.

BOYS BASKETBALL

GENERAL BROWN 83,

SOUTH LEWIS 33

The Lions erupted for 31 points in the third quarter en route to a Frontier League crossover win at Dexter.

Troy McAdam led four General Brown players in double figures with 15 points. Tanner Pitkin added 14, Dallas Thomas had 13 points and five assists, and Sam Massaro 10 points and six rebounds for the Lions (3-1, 3-0). Rob Thomas also contributed eight points, four assists and eight steals.

Anthony Ripp paced the Falcons (0-3) with 14 points.

INDIAN RIVER 63, APW 37

The Warriors outscored the host Rebels 22-4 in the opening quarter, and raced to a crossover victory at Parish.

Jarrod Mattingly and Darrius Bryant led the way with 15 and 13 points, respectively, for Indian River (3-1, 2-0).

Steve Palmer netted 10 points for APW (0-5, 0-4).

LYME 70, LAFARGEVILLE 40

Josh Mendez had a huge game for the host Indians, scoring 23 points, grabbing 21 rebounds and coming up with six steals during a "D" Division win at Chaumont.

Jordan Jenkins chipped in 16 points and Dakota Booth 10 for Lyme (1-3), which led 40-19 at halftime.

LaFargeville (1-4, 0-3) was led by Scott LaQuay's 11 points.

HOCKEY

ONTARIO BAY 9, IHC 4

Hunter VanHorn connected for four goals for the Storm during a Section 3, Division II West victory at the Watertown Municipal Arena.

Ontario Bay (2-1, 1-1) took control of the game early, leading 8-1 before IHC buried three consecutive scores. Devin Coon added two goals and four assists for the Storm.

Stewart Brereton led the Cavaliers (0-6, 0-4) with a goal and two assists. Mike Madill contributed a goal and an assist, while Matt Morgia had three assists.

VOLLEYBALL

SOUTH LEWIS 3, GENERAL BROWN 1

Liz Guillaume tallied 10 kills and four aces at Turin to lead the Falcons to a 25-23, 25-11, 25-27, 26-24 interdivision win.

Danielle Brown provided 16 assists and three blocks for South Lewis (3-3, 3-2). Abby Black contributed four kills and 10 aces.

Brylee Jiles (eight kills, 17 digs) and Desarie Rolfe (eight assists, 14 digs) led the Lions (1-3).

SANDY CREEK 3, INDIAN RIVER 2

At Sandy Creek, Stefanie Senke had 15 kills, five aces and four blocks for the Comets during a 25-8, 24-26, 25-12, 24-26, 25-21 interdivision match.

Samantha Pfluger finished with seven kills, seven aces and 13 assists. Maria Mason notched seven kills, five aces and nine digs for Sandy Creek (2-2).

The Warriors fell to 0-4.
