Man sentenced to prison term for dealing drugs at music fest

LOWVILLE — An Albany County man was sentenced Friday in Lewis County Court to three years in state prison for selling drugs at a Turin music festival.

Kevin R. Bailey,39, Coeymans, a second-felony offender, also was sentenced to two years of post-release parole supervision, a six-month driver's license suspension, forfeiture of assets seized during his arrest and $375 in court fees on a charge of fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, to which he pleaded guilty Dec. 4.

Mr. Bailey was accused of selling Ecstasy on Sept. 4 at the moe.down music festival in Turin.

Also Friday in Lewis County Court:

Caroline N. Ortlieb,50, of 6289 Water St., Martinsburg, was arraigned on a charge of third-degree identity theft and pleaded guilty to that charge. Sentencing was set for Feb. 5. Ms. Ortlieb was accused of purchasing various items with a debit card belonging to John Hammond between Sept. 21 and Oct. 19 in the village of Lowville using his personal identification number.

Shannon M. Larkins,31, no address provided, was arraigned on three counts apiece of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, third-degree burglary, fourth-degree grand larceny and fourth-degree criminal mischief and two counts of second-degree forgery and pleaded innocent. Her case was adjourned to Jan. 29, and she was sent back to county jail on $50,000 bail.

Ms. Larkins was accused of selling heroin Nov. 12 in the town of New Bremen and Nov. 16 in both the town of Croghan and village of Lowville and forging a signature on two checks belonging to Kenneth Sixberry on Nov. 14.

She was additionally charged with breaking into a building on Whitaker Park Road owned by the town of Martinsburg on Sept. 27 and 28, a camp on Houseville Gulf Road in the town of Turin owned by James Shea on Nov. 26 and 27 and a residence on Graves Road in the town of Martinsburg owned by Charles Stiffler on Nov. 25 and 27. Stolen items allegedly included several generators, liquor, tools, copper tubing, a propane heater, a television/radio set, a VCR/DVD player and a recycling container.

Brian L. Raymond,27, of 6613 Snell Road, Lowville, was arraigned on charges of third- and fourth-degree grand larceny, third-degree criminal mischief, menacing a police officer, resisting arrest and second-degree obstructing governmental administration and pleaded innocent. His case was adjourned to Jan. 29, and he was sent back to county jail on $10,000 bail.

Mr. Raymond was charged with stealing a 2001 Ford pickup truck Nov. 6 and 7 from the Nortz & Virkler dealership in Lowville. He was additionally charged with threatening Deputy Lee M. Todeschini with a rifle, grabbing him and damaging his uniform while the deputy was conducting an accident investigation Nov. 7 in the town of Watson.

Logan Moore,16, of 43971 Church St., Natural Bridge, was arraigned on charges of first- and second-degree assault and pleaded innocent. His case was adjourned to Jan. 22. He was accused of setting Robert Graves on fire Oct. 11 in the town of Diana.

Bryon M. Ielfield,27, Lowville, was arraigned on charges of third-degree criminal mischief and unlawful possession of marijuana and pleaded innocent. His case was adjourned to Jan. 8, and he was sent back to county jail on $3,000 bail. Mr. Ielfield was accused of breaking a store window at Quality Home Leasing on South State Street in Lowville and possessing marijuana June 6.

Anthony W. Oaks,46, of 5616 Crofoot Hill Road, Constableville, was arraigned on charges of felony aggravated driving while intoxicated, first-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and failure to keep right and pleaded innocent. His case was adjourned to Jan. 29. Mr. Oaks was stopped Nov. 12 on Route 12 in the town of Martinsburg.

David A. Baxter,40, of Route 12, had his case of two counts each of third-degree assault and endangering the welfare of a child and a single count of second-degree assault adjourned to Jan. 8, with a possible trial date set for Feb. 8. He was charged Aug. 1 with hitting and kicking his wife, Melissa Baxter, and wrapping a telephone cord around her neck, all in the presence of two children.

In County Court activity from Wednesday:

Henry J. Kraeger,53, of 7369 Utica Blvd., Lowville, was arraigned on charges of felony DWI, felony aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle, driving without a license, failure to keep right and false personation and pleaded innocent. His case was adjourned to Jan. 29. Mr. Kraeger was stopped Nov. 21 on Route 12 in the village of Lowville and allegedly provided police with a false name and date of birth.

Scott M. Dicob,33, of 7569 Erie Canal Road, Lowville, was arraigned on a charge of second-degree burglary and pleaded innocent. His case was adjourned to Jan. 29. Mr. Dicob was accused of breaking into an Erie Canal Road residence owned by Bruce Lehman between Sept. 1 and 18.

Patrick VanGoethem,25, Philadelphia, Pa., had his case of third-, fifth- and seventh-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance, fourth-degree criminal possession of marijuana and possession of controlled substances outside the original container adjourned to Jan. 8. Mr. VanGoethem was accused of possessing cocaine, hallucinogenic mushrooms, Endocet and 2.5 ounces of marijuana Sept. 4 at moe.down.
