OGDENSBURG — City police are investigating the death of a Claxton-Hepburn Medical Center nurse, Lisa M. Peacock, 41, Canton.

Investigators did not comment on the cause of death. Detective Robert H. Wescott said Dr. Samuel A. Livingstone, Jefferson County medical examiner, will perform an autopsy Friday evening.

Police said the body of Mrs. Peacock was found at about 7 a.m. Friday in the bathroom of the second-floor medical-surgical unit at the hospital. St. Lawrence County Coroner Russell B. Lawrence III said there did not seem to be any injuries to the body.

She was found unresponsive and attempts to resuscitate her were unsuccessful. She was pronounced dead shortly after 7 a.m., hospital officials said. Police were called at 8:06 a.m., police said.

Hospital officials said the woman had been a nurse in the medical-surgical unit on and off for the past 20 years.

"From people that knew her well, she was highly regarded and an excellent nurse," said Dr. Adam D. Jarrett, chief medical officer at the hospital. "We'll miss her personally and the hospital will miss her professionally."

Mr. Lawrence said results from toxicology and other autopsy tests will not be available for several weeks.
