Four north country high schools were recognized by U.S. News & World Report.

South Lewis, Hammond, Hermon-DeKalb and Adirondack high schools all received bronze medal status on the national magazine's third annual listing of top schools.

Throughout New York, 23 schools received gold medals, 30 schools received silver medals, 69 received the bronze medals and six received honorable mention.

Schools were rated based on students' standard testing, performance by less-advantaged students and college readiness.
