POTSDAM — The village is considering placing four stop signs on Missouri Avenue and Chestnut Street in an effort to slow down drivers.

Village Police Chief John A. Kaplan said recently that he supports adding the stop signs in that area to keep drivers from speeding through those residential side streets as a shortcut between routes 11 and 11B.

Sixty residents of the two streets submitted a petition to the village in November, seeking to install speed deterrents on their roads.
