POTSDAM — Senior netminder Dakota Sharp finished with 27 saves, including 11 in the third period, as the Canton boys hockey team outlasted Potsdam, 1-0, in a Northern Athletic Conference Division I game Wednesday.

Matt Flynn scored the game-winning goal on a feed from Trent Durocher in the first half for the Golden Bears (3-3-1 overall, 1-0 league).

Evan Drummatter stopped 12 shots for the Sandstoners (5-3-1, 1-1-1).

OFA 2, MASSENA 1

Eric Barr and Eric Whitcombe scored second-period goals during a Northern Athletic Conference interdivision game at Massena as the Blue Devils handed the Red Raiders their first league loss.

Chris Harper made 28 saves for OFA (3-3-2, 2-1-2).

Evan Raymo scored in the first period for Massena (5-5, 3-1), while Bill Lint made 12 saves.

PLATTSBURGH 7, ALEXANDRIA 5

Ryan Latinville sank the winning goal with three minutes remaining to help lift Plattsburgh to victory in the championship game of the Alexandria Christmas Tournament.

Jordan Conroy assisted the game winner and added an insurance goal with 9 seconds remaining.

McKenzie Garlock and Jason Heath each scored twice for the Purple Ghosts (4-3).

ST. LAWRENCE 7, THOUSAND ISLANDS 2

Zach Baldwin recorded a hat trick in the first period that allowed the Larries to defeat the Vikings in the consolation game of the Alexandria Christmas Tournament.

Andrew Fiske and Charlie Dullea each provided a goal and an assist for St. Lawrence (6-2). Nate McLaughlin totaled 20 saves.

Drew Parisian supplied a power-play tally and an assist to pace Thousand Islands (2-6).

GIRLS BASKETBALL

OFA 53, CARTHAGE 48

Elissa St. Germain scored 16 points and Lindsay Drummond added 14 as the Blue Devils won a nonleague game at Carthage.

Chelsea Martin provided a solid floor game of nine points, 10 assists and four steals for Ogdensburg Free Academy (3-4).

Joelle Percy led Carthage (3-4) with 19 points, including five 3-pointers, five steals and seven rebounds. Sarah Johnson added 12 points and 10 rebounds.

LOWVILLE 57, SOUTH LEWIS 42

Taylor Haenlin provided 21 points as the Red Raiders (3-5 overall, 3-4 league) earned a victory in the Lewis County Tournament at Copenhagen, which also counted as a Frontier League crossover game.

Jenna Kraeger scored nine points to lead the Falcons (1-7, 1-6).

BEAVER RIVER 42, COPENHAGEN 30

Payge Lehman and Ashley Widrick each turned in 14 points for the Beavers during the Lewis County Tournament at Copenhagen.

Widrick also registered nine rebounds, four steals and four assists. Kate Updike grabbed eight rebounds for Beaver River (5-3).

Copenhagen dropped to 5-3.

SOUTH JEFFERSON 72,

WATERTOWN 11

Maddy Wetterhahn provided 19 points and seven rebounds as the Spartans coasted during the Watertown Savings Bank shootout at JCC.

Leah Williams had 11 points, and Rachael Bassett distributed 11 assists for South Jefferson (6-0).

Watertown is 0-6.

CHATEAUGAY 39, CHAZY 29

Cindy Harrigan supplied 12 points as the Bulldogs won every quarter in a nonleague win at Chazy.

Marissa Cook scored nine points for Chateaugay (3-2). Olivia Seymour led the Eagles with eight points.

WRESTLING

SANDY CREEK SWEEPS FIELD

The Comets tallied an 8-0 record to finish first at the the Brett D. Dixon Memorial Duals at Central Square on Tuesday and Wednesday.

Jacob Halsey (160 pounds) was named the most outstanding wrestler for Sandy Creek (16-0). He recorded four pins and was unbeaten.

Derek Pfluger piled up seven pinfalls, Matt Shirley and Jared Soule each won six matches by pinfall, and Jake Benedict and Andy Blanding each had five pinfall victories.

Holland Patent finished second with 7-1 record and Cazenovia rounded out the top three, finishing 6-2.
