The Thousand Islands Land Trust announced Monday that it has hired Star Carter as its director of land conservation.
She will assist TILT's executive director, Andrew T. Wood, in overseeing aspects of land conservation undertaken by the trust and work with landowners to explore conservation easement options and develop conservation programs.
Before moving to the north country, Ms. Carter lived in Kailua, Hawaii, where she was a wildlife technician for the Pacific Environmental Corp. and the Clean Islands Council. She also has been a lab technician, horse wrangler, Secret Service officer and ophthalmic assistant.
Ms. Carter graduated from the University of Hawaii with a bachelor of science degree in animal science in 2002.
