The Saints are finally home after spending the new year in Denver and at Niagara University.
But St. Lawrence is a bit battered.
Injuries
Mike McKenzie, Aaron Bogosian, Jared Keller and Jeremiah Cunningham all have nagging injuries that coach Joe Marsh said he is taking "particularly cautious." All are most likely going to play on the weekend, but it could be gametime decisions.
Recruits
The good news is the Saints have a some solid recruits coming in next year and in 2011.
Greg Carey (65 points in 45 games for the Burlington Cougars in the 08-09 season) will be with the Saints next season. He is putting up better numbers this year. Carey will be 20 years old as a freshman.
Justin Baker, playing in OPJHL for the Streetsville Derbys, is one of the top defensemen in the league. He has 64 points from the blueline. The coaches are pretty excited about him.
George Hughes' brother, Gunnar, who has been playing at the Salisbury prep school and will join the Saints in 2011.
Goal Cams
St. Lawrence brought in the New Year with goal cameras. I know, exciting.
2010 has not treated the goal cams well, however, as St. Lawrence is still testing and fiddling with the equipment to get it up and running.
I spoke with Assistant Athletic Director Jeremy Freeman today, and he said that the review system is unlikely to be operational by the weekend.
