GOUVERNEUR — Ten suspects were rounded up during a series of early-morning drug raids Monday by village police and St. Lawrence County Drug Task Force members.
The suspects, all from Gouverneur, were accused of selling various drugs, including cocaine, diazepam, Percocet, Tylenol with codeine, OxyContin and oxycodone, to undercover officers over the past several months.
The sweep started about 6 a.m.
"They were distributing these substances to our citizens and our children," village Police Chief David C. Whitton said. "The roundup is a result of a lot of work."
All were arraigned in Town Court before judges John W. Riordan and Stanley H. Young Jr. on felony criminal sale of a controlled substance charges. Several suspects remain at large.
Those charged with third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance are Johnathan T. Stowell, 34, of 123 Parker St.; Todd B. McIntosh, 47, of 136 Depot St.; Dale F. Dedrick, 53, of 94 E. Main St.; Stewart E. Miller, 47, and Daniel E. Miller, 25, both of 72 Spencer St.; Randy C. Bowman, 45, of 104 Prospect St.; Weldon R. Lashbrooks Jr., 46, of 283 Spencer St.; Eric J. Parow, 25, of 48A Clinton St., and Rita M. Chartier, 42, of 4336 Route 58, Lot 12.
Carol Bonnell, 49, of 125 Johnstown St., was charged with fifth-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance.
Stewart Miller was sent to St. Lawrence County jail, Canton, with no bail, and Mr. Bowman was sent on $10,000 bail or $20,000 bond. The rest were sent to jail on $5,000 bail or $10,000 bond each.
