Fort Drum soldier dies while on leave in Virginia

A Fort Drum soldier on leave from duty in Iraq died Jan. 9 in Mount Solon, Va., according to a 10th Mountain Division press release Wednesday.

Pfc. Thomas E. Hodge II, 28, of Waynesboro, Va., was a petroleum supply specialist with the 210th Brigade Support Battalion, 2nd Brigade Combat Team, and deployed to Iraq in October. He is survived by his wife and two children.

The August County sheriff's office in Verona, Va., is investigating the cause of death, the release said.
