Third period notes

GOAL SLU Curran one-on-one

GOAL SLU Vermeulen's second — Klancher assisted again

Goal YALE - Marc Arcobello, :51

Second period impressions

The Saints are hanging in there despite all the injuries and presumed lack of depth. The question for the third will be how exhausted the Saints are coming out. They have played well through two periods, but Yale's speed and depth could cause problems. As Drewiske said last night in the locker room at this time, "Good teams find ways to win in the third period." Yale is certainly a good team — crisp, sharp, and methodical. St. Lawrence would really like that McKenzie goal, however. Anything can happen in this third, but it's been a great hockey game so far.

Tisi helps Saints kill a power play

Second period notes

Tisi standing on his head again. Just made a stick save that also hit the crossbar.

Back to five-on-five and it is a real battle here at Appleton.

Double penalties and we're 4-on-4 for two minutes.

The intensity has picked up a bit here. Yale definitely does not want to lose this one, and St. Lawrence continues to play like they're proving themselves.

Goal Laganiere Right off the faceoff. Tisi never saw it.

First period impressions

A very solid period for the Saints and a high shot-per-goal percentage. Matt Raley and Travis Vermeulen each scored for the Saints, while Kain Tisi made nine saves in net.

I think you have to be happy heading to the locker room here. Keep playing like this, and this will be a walk to a win. St. Lawrence only has to worry about the amount of zone time Yale is accumulating. They haven't put one in, but with that amount of time in the offensive zone, it's only a matter of time.

This game should be 3-0 right now, but another bad call — and a potential good spot for Goal Cams, which are installed but not in use. Just shake your head, take the two-goal lead to the second and move on. The goal cams in place and it's a 3-0 game.

First period notes

McKenzie has a goal waved off. They blew the whistle too early. No red light but the puck was in.

An awesome penalty kill for the Saints, and they're rewarded with a power play.

Tisi is again on his game. He's made a few clutch saves, but a penalty coming against SLU... Brandon Bollig

GOAL Travis Vermeulen a perfect backhand over the left shoulder, 12:23.

GOAL Matt Raley A beautiful feed from Klancher. Raley was calling for it with a one-timer. 9:46.

Very good, very clean game midway through the first. No penalties and no calls made.

Yale is f-a-s-t fast. Bogo is going to get a workout as will the rest of the Saints tonight. This game may be won late.

Yale is controlling the pace here very early on, but St. Lawrence is keeping them away from shots on net. A decent start right off.

-

I will have video tonight.

No real news to report from the overnight. Still no Jared Keller and obviously no Peter Child. Aaron Bogosian and Mark Armstrong are in the lineup again tonight, so it appears both had no problems coming back from injury last night.

Mac Stratford is in place of Child defensively for the Saints. He'll be on the line with Jordan Dewey. Matt Raley moved up to play with George Hughes.

Kain Tisi is again starting in net.

Starters: Jeremiah Cunningham, Aaron Bogosian, Mike McKenzie, Jeff Caister, Derek Keller.

Yale starters

Denny Kearney (70 career points), Andrew Miller (16) and Broc Little (80)

The scoring drops off after that, but that first line is potent.

Defense: Kevin Peel, Mike Matczak.

Goalie: Nick Maricic (4-1-2, 2.35 GAA, .910 Save %)

Yale defeated Clarkson last night, 3-2.
