POTSDAM — Water from a leaking roof flooded Clarkson University's bookstore Monday. It is expected to be closed for cleanup until Thursday at the earliest.

The melting snow and heavy rain Monday drenched the store at 39 Market St., leaving about two inches of water on the first floor. The water, which also flooded the store's basement, was removed by college maintenance staff.

"We're not sure yet of the extent of damage," store manager Brenda L. Thornton said.

Barnes & Noble College Bookstores owns the store's inventory and has managed the Clarkson store since 1994.
