Three motorists charged with DWI

A woman was charged with driving while intoxicated in connection with an accident Saturday night in Brasher Falls that sent a teenager to the hospital.

According to state police, a vehicle driven by Melinda M. Rafter, 27, Brasher Falls, rear-ended one driven by Vera J. Viau, 51, North Lawrence, at 9:25 p.m. on County Route 55.

Mrs. Rafter was charged with driving without a license, second-degree aggravated unlicensed operation of a motor vehicle and DWI. Troopers said her blood alcohol content was 0.15 percent. State law establishes 0.08 percent BAC as the threshold for intoxication.

An unnamed 15-year-old passenger in Mrs. Viau's car complained of back pains and was taken to Massena Memorial Hospital.

Also charged with DWI and related offenses:

■ Dustin M. Marley, 21, of 2411 County Route 42, Carthage, was charged by Watertown police with aggravated DWI and tailgating at 2:28 a.m. Saturday in the 500 block of Factory Street. His BAC was 0.20 percent, police said. Aggravated DWI is charged when the BAC is 0.18 percent or more.

■ Charles M. Muller, 24, Black River, was charged by Watertown police at 12:40 a.m. Saturday in the 200 block of Factory Street. His BAC was 0.10 percent, police said. He also was charged with passing through a red light.
