Seven hurt in collision

CANTON — A two-vehicle accident at 12:04 p.m. Sunday sent seven people to Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, according to state police.

Police said Roxanne W. Vaughan, 47, of 19 Pestle St., Russell, was driving on county Route 25 when Timothy M. Lamb, 19, of 2 Bridge St., Madrid, pulled his car into the intersection at Pink Schoolhouse Road and hit Mrs. Vaughan's vehicle in the driver's side.

Police said Mrs. Vaughan suffered a head injury when a can of paint hit her during the accident. She also complained of abdominal pain, police said.

Two passengers in Mr. Lamb's car were not wearing seat belts and were thrown from the vehicle during the wreck, police said. Christopher L. Lamb, 16, also of 2 Bridge St., complained of back, neck and leg pains, and an unnamed juvenile suffered a broken collarbone and hip bone as well as multiple contusions and abrasions when he was thrown from the car, police said.

Three other passengers in Mr. Lamb's car also were injured, police said. William R. Pitts, 17, of 171 Northwoods Road, Hermon, complained of pain in his left side; a second unnamed juvenile complained of back, arm and leg pain and a cut over the left eye, and a third unnamed juvenile also was cut over the left eye.

Mr. Lamb complained of knee and left-side pains. He was ticketed with failure to yield the right of way and having a rear-seat passenger under the age of 16 riding without a seat belt.
