CANTON — An Ogdensburg woman has filed a medical malpractice suit against a hospital, a doctor and others in connection with the 2008 death of her mother.

The lawsuit filed in state Supreme Court last week was brought by Deborah Aldrich on behalf of Martha J. Legault, seeking unspecified damages against Canton-Potsdam Hospital, Potsdam, Dr. Zeeba A. Siddiqi, Prime Health Care Clinic, Health Services of Northern New York, registered nurse Tonya L. Shannon and personal care aide Christina Bell.

The suit alleges Dr. Siddiqi, who cared for Ms. Legault from Jan. 21 to Feb. 3, 2008, failed to "properly diagnose, care for and treat the plaintiff's decedent's leg wounds, ulcers, sores and respiratory distress."

Ms. Legault, 49, Lisbon, died of cardiovascular disease Feb. 3, 2008, at Upstate Medical University, Syracuse.
