Marcel R. Marion

BRASHER FALLS — Funeral services for Marcel R. Marion, 83, formerly of LSBH in Brasher, will be held on Wednesday, Feb. 3, 2010 at 12 noon at the Church of the Sacred Heart in Massena. Interment will be in Calvary Cemetery.

Friends and family may be received on Tuesday from 2-4 and 7-9 p.m. at the Phillips Memorial Home in Massena, 64 Andrews St., Massena.

Marcel passed away on Jan. 31, 2010 at Massena Memorial Hospital.

He is survived by two sons, and two daughters, Richard and wife Andrea Marion of Cicero, N.Y., Gerald and wife Sylvie Marion, Lorraine and husband Philip Gabri of Louisville, N.Y., Lise Boyer and companion Sean Smith of Massena; nine grandchildren; 12 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Pauline Sanche of Casselman, Canada, Frances Pomainville of Massena; several nieces and nephews.

He was predeceased by a brother, John, and a sister. Ellen Lafrance.

He was born July 8, 1926 in Massena, the son of Yvon and Eva (Bruyere) Marion. He spent his early years in Chrysler, Ontario, until his family moved to Massena.

He was employed at GM Powertrain as a die cast operator, retiring in 1986. He had previously worked at Alcoa. A marriage to Cecile Pomainville ended in divorce.

He enjoyed playing hockey as a youth, and was an avid fan of the Montreal Canadians.
