Harry C. Benjamin, 90, Green Bay, Wi., resident, died Jan. 27, 2010, at his home. He was born Feb. 1, 1919, in Lorraine, NY, to the late Carl and Olive (Berry) Benjamin. Harry married the former Gladys Darrow on May 28, 1940, in Watertown, NY. She preceded him in death Dec. 27, 2007. He served in the US Coast Guard for 22 years until 1960. While serving in the Coast Guard he received the American Defense and Good Conduct Medals. Harry was also employed by Hansens Painting Service for 18 years until his retirement. He was a member of the VFW, First United Methodist Church, the USCG Chief Petty Officers Association and Masonic Lodge #322.

He is survived by two sons, Ronald and James Benjamin, both Green Bay; 10 grandchildren and 12 great-grandchildren: three sisters, Ferne VanEpps, Watertown, NY; Betty Willis, Newburgh, NY; Audrey Morrow, Port Clinton, Ohio; nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by one daughter, Sherry Gavre and one son, Steve Benjamin; five brothers, Ross, Elwyn, Earl, Gordon, and Howard Benjamin.

Calling hours and funeral service were held at the Proko-Wall Funeral Home in Green Bay on Sunday, Jan. 31 with Rev. David Wilkinson officiating. Military Honors followed at the funeral home. Entombment took place at Nicolet Memorial Gardens in Green Bay on Monday.
