FISHERS LANDING — Charles E. Schmidt, 71, of Fishers Landing, NY, formerly of Frankfort, NY, passed away on Monday, February 1, 2010, at Claxton Hepburn Medical Center in Ogdensburg, NY after a short illness.

Chuck was born February 10, 1938 in Utica, NY, the son of the late Frank and Marie (Catinella) Schmidt. He was a self-employed auto body repairman and owned & operated C & B Body Shop in Frankfort, NY for many years. He then entered the United States National Guard, serving for 14 years. Most recently he was employed as a welder for the US Government at Fort Drum, NY; retiring in 1994. Chuck was also an avid outdoorsman and enjoyed spending his time fishing on the bay.

Chuck is survived by his wife of 20 years, Rosalie Castilla; two sons, Mark and Terri Schmidt of Brentwood, TN; Brian and Laila Schmidt of Tampa, FL; and two daughters, Paula Aversa of Mohawk, NY; Sandra Castilla of Duanesburg, NY. He is also survived by one brother, Ronald and Lorraine Schmidt of Florida. Also surviving are ten grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.

Calling hours will be held at Costello Funeral Home, Alexandria Bay, from 6-8 p.m. on Thursday, February 4. A graveside service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at St. Agnes Chapel on Mohawk St. in Utica, NY.
