THERESA — George E. Thompson, Jr., 58 of High Street died at home Tuesday, February 2, 2010 after a long illness.

Born July 12, 1951 in Ogdensburg, he was the son of George E. and Jean Brabaw Thompson, and attended Knox Memorial High School in Russell, NY.

Mr. Thompson was employed as a logger and roofer, worked construction, and was a heavy equipment operator at Lennox Homes, Watertown until retiring due to disability.

He married Giselle Gardner on January 27, 1973 at St. James Catholic Church, Gouverneur.

Mr. Thompson enjoyed hunting and fishing with his sons, and spending time with his grandchildren and his family.

Survivors including his wife, Giselle of 37 years, are 2 sons and their wives, George and Jamie, OH and Edward and Brandie, Theresa; 3 daughters, Katrina Slate, Theresa, Virginia Mitchell, GA and April Thompson and her companion, Tim Odett, Star Lake; 7 sisters and 6 brothers-in-law, Barb and Harold Curry, FL, Deb and Rick Colton, Hermon, Sue Rowe, Hermon, Mary and Dennis Solon, Edwards; Lisa and Mark Harris, Hammond, Wendy and Fred Whitmarsh, Hermon and Jen and Mike Wilson, Ogdensburg; 10 grandchildren, 1 stepgrandchild, 2 stepgreat-grandchildren; nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents he is predeceased by a brother, Gary Thompson at age 18 in April 1971, a sister, Cindy Miller on February 17, 1984 and 2 nephews.

The funeral will be 11 a.m. Saturday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa with Rev. Mark Reilly of St. Theresa of Avila Catholic Church officiating.

Calling hours are 6 to 8 p.m. Friday evening at the funeral home.
