Man released on parole,
arrested following day
A former Black River man was released on parole Wednesday, only to be jailed again Thursday.
Anthony R. Graves, 22, was arrested by Jefferson County sheriff's deputies on a warrant issued in August 2007 charging him with second-degree assault. Part-time Watertown City Judge Eugene R. Renzi ordered him held without bail in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety Building.
He is accused of punching Andrew J. Radtke, then 20, in the face on Aug. 12, 2007, while both were prisoners in the county jail, according to documents filed in City Court. Mr. Radtke was in jail on a burglary charge at the time, and Mr. Graves was about to begin a prison sentence of two to four years for attempted first-degree sexual abuse.
Hogansburg man accused
of having illegal fireworks
MASSENA — Tracey M. Oakes, 36, Hogansburg, was charged Tuesday with unlawfully dealing with fireworks after she was found with eight types of illegal fireworks when stopped on South Raquette Road, state police said.
He was issued an appearance ticket for Village Court.
Pair charged with using
other man's benefit card
A man and a woman are facing charges of third-degree identity theft and petit larceny for their alleged use of another man's benefits card, according to the Jefferson County Sheriff's Department.
Terry J. Hofferberth, 43, of 47208 Dingman Point Road, Alexandria Bay, and Heather L. Paro, 37, of 11424 Route 12E, Chaumont, on Dec. 5 bought groceries and made an ATM withdrawal using a card belonging to Frank Larrabee, no address provided, deputies said. A tab of $173.26 was run up on the card, according to sheriff's documents.
They face prosecution in both the city and town courts of Watertown.
Lyons Falls man charged
with illegally having guns
A Lyons Falls man illegally possessed three guns in Watertown early on Jan. 3 because he has been convicted of a crime, according to city police.
Paul T. Ramos, 26, was charged Thursday morning with fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon. He awaits prosecution in City Court.
Police said he is charged in an incident at 130 Court St., where at about 2:30 a.m. he was involved in a domestic fight. He possessed a shotgun and two rifles, police said, but charges were not filed until his conviction record could be confirmed. He was convicted of endangering the welfare of a child in the town of Turin, police said.

weapon possession count
An inmate at Watertown Correctional Facility was found possessing a sharpened metal shank Jan. 8, state police charged Thursday.
Carmello Felix, 42, who has since been transferred to Gouverneur Correctional Facility, awaits grand jury action on charges of first-degree promoting prison contraband and third-degree criminal possession of a weapon.
He is serving a term of up to eight years that was given him in Bronx in January 2003 for attempted third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance, according to the state Department of Correctional Services Web site.
