Ronald H. Gardner, 62, a native of Watertown and former resident of Oxbow, passed away Tuesday, February 2, 2010 in Rochester.
A funeral service will be held Saturday, February 6 at 11:00 a.m. at the Green Funeral Home, Gouverneur with Rev. Kenneth Leamon, pastor of the Antwerp First Congregational Church officiating and burial will be in East Riverside Cemetery, Gouverneur. Calling hours will be Friday from 6:00-8:00 p.m.
Ronald was born in Watertown on February 12, 1947, the son of James G. and Beatrice Rushlow Gardner.
He served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War and retired at the rank of sergeant.
Ronald married Jean M. Ellis on October 4, 1969 in Watertown at the Hope Presbyterian Church. Jean, a journalist and news editor at the Gouverneur Tribune Press, passed away May 24, 1996.
He enjoyed woodworking, photography, playing guitar, bartering, sharing stories, and following the news. He was a member of the American Legion in several areas.
Ronald is survived by three sons Ronald and Melissa Gardner Jr. of Tennessee, James M. Gardner of Hartsdale, and Jason M. Gardner of Rochester, two grandchildren Nathan and Nicholas, and a brother Sonny Gardner of Texas.
