Coloney, Hart spark Harrisville's key win over Hammond

HARRISVILLE — Katelyn Hart and Patty Coloney made big plays late for the Harrisville girls basketball team Thursday, leading the squad to a 67-64 victory over Hammond and moving the Pirates into sole possession of first place in the Northern Athletic Conference's East Division.

Hart, who finished with 24 points, scored 14 of those in the fourth quarter and made a game-tying basket late in regulation for the Pirates (11-1 overall, 9-1 division). Coloney finished with 16 points and 11 rebounds and scored five of her points in overtime, as Harrisville outscored the Red Devils 7-4.

Malynda Jenne led Hammond (13-2, 8-2) with 32 points and Alyssa Crosby tossed in 14.

HERMON-DEKALB 60,

EDWARDS-KNOX 47

Rochelle Whitton scored 25 points to send the Demons (10-6, 7-3) past the Cougars in a West Division game in DeKalb Junction.

Brianna Sayer finished with 16 points for the Demons and Kelly Williams added 10. Lindsey Crosbie led the Cougars (2-12, 1-9) with 25 points and Kaylee Hartley tossed in 10.

MADRID-WADDINGTON 25,

ST. REGIS FALLS 18

Alex Martin scored eight points to lead the Yellow Jackets past the Saints (7-6, 7-5) in an East Division game in Madrid. Kristin King led Madrid-Waddington (10-4, 7-3) defensively with 11 steals.

COLTON-PIERREPONT 40,

PARISHVILLE-HOPKINTON 25

Alex Soucia scored 13 points and grabbed 10 rebounds to send the Colts over the Panthers (0-11) in an East Division game in Parishville. Tara Hennessey grabbed 10 rebounds for the Colts (3-12, 2-9).

CHATEAUGAY 36, SALMON RIVER 30

Raquel Fowler scored 17 points to send the Bulldogs past the Shamrocks (9-7, 7-5) in an East Division game in Chateaugay. Angelica Harrigan added 10 for the Bulldogs (10-4, 7-4).

MALONE 63, MASSENA 31

Brittany Marshall scored 18 points and Kelsey Johnson added 16 to lead Malone (10-2, 9-0) past Massena in a Central Division game in Massena. Kristen McKeel led the Red Raiders (6-6, 5-4) with 10 points.

OFA 58, TUPPER LAKE 43

Elissa St. Germain scored 16 points and grabbed 13 rebounds as the Blue Devils (10-7, 4-3) won a nonleague game in Ogdensburg. Megan Morrison added 15 points, all on 3-point baskets, for OFA.

Carley Aldridge scored 16 points and Hunter Aldridge added 15 to lead Tupper Lake (8-5).

BOYS BASKETBALL

POTSDAM 72, CANTON 18

The Sandstoners got off to a 24-4 lead after one quarter en route to a win over the Golden Bears (3-13, 0-8) in a Central Division game in Potsdam.

Zach Adams and Scott Bartenstein finished with 14 points each to lead Potsdam (16-1, 8-1). Jon Coleman scored 13 points and Josh Adams added 12 for Potsdam.

CHATEAUGAY 53, SALMON RIVER 35

Eli Franze scored 14 points to lead Chateaugay (15-1, 13-0) past Salmon River in an East Division game in Fort Covington. Eric Dwyer tossed in 10 for the Bulldogs.

William Benko led the Shamrocks (3-13, 3-9) with 12 points and Demetri LaFrance added 10.

HOCKEY

ONTARIO BAY 8, CENTRAL SQUARE 0

Tyler Decker and Eddie Tagliareni recorded two goals apiece to help boost the Storm to the Section 3 Division II West victory in Pulaski.

Devin Coon supplied one goal and two assists, Hunter VanHorn registered a goal and an assist, and Justin Geddings made 26 saves for Ontario Bay (10-7-1, 6-7-1).

Decker, a junior at South Jefferson, received the Mexico Sports Booster Club MVP Award following the game.

Central Square is 1-16-1, 0-13-1.

VOLLEYBALL

SOUTH LEWIS 3,

THOUSAND ISLANDS 1

Abby Black recorded 13 kills to help guide the Falcons to a 26-24, 22-25, 25-19, 25-21 Frontier League "C/D" Division semifinal victory at Clayton.

South Lewis will play Beaver River (15-1 overall) in the championship game at 4 p.m. Saturday at Case Middle School. It's the first time the Falcons have advanced to the final in over 10 years, according to South Lewis coach Ed Griffiths.

Heather McManus scored on 11 kills and four aces, while Liz Guillaume registered 10 kills and five aces, and Danielle Brown supplied 21 assists and two blocks for South Lewis (9-10).

For the Vikings, Siarra Sherako posted 30 kills and 10 digs, and Rachel Parker provided 23 assists and 16 digs. Allie Barton registered 16 digs, and Autumn Dutcher added 22 service points for Thousand Islands (12-5).
