Vera M. Killorin

Vera M. Killorin, 89, died February 5, 2010 at the Samaritan Keep Nursing Home where she had resided since Dec. of 2007.

In celebration of her life, a memorial mass will be held on her birthday May 1st, 10 a.m. at Holy Family Church. Burial will follow in the Glenwood Cemetery.

There will be no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Hart & Bruce Funeral Home. Donations may be made to the Sister's of the Precious Blood or St. Jude's Hospital for Children.

Born May 1, 1920 in Watertown, daughter of George and Maude Barter Sayyeau, she attended Watertown schools. As a young woman, Mrs. Killorin was employed at JJ Newberry's and then worked at F. W. Woolworth's. She married Clarence R. Killorin on July 27, 1940 at Holy Family Church with the Rev. Russell C. O'Neill, officiating. Her husband, Retired Deputy Chief of Police Killorin died in 1996.

Mrs. Killorin enjoyed sports and was a devoted Yankee fan. During retirement, she and her husband traveled and enjoyed winters in Florida. She was a member of the Knights of Columbus Auxiliary, the Northside Improvement League, and the American Legion Auxiliary.

Surviving are a son and his wife, Patrick and Michelin Killorin, Baldwinsville; a daughter and her husband, Judith and James Pierie, Sackets Harbor; six grandchildren, 12 great-grandchildren; a brother and sister in law, Arnold and Amelia Sayyeau, Watertown; two sisters in law, Constance and Demetria Sayyeau, Watertown; nieces and nephews.

An infant son, Sean, four brothers, Harry, Charles, Robert, and George Sayyeau and two sisters, Dorothy Seaman and Rita Sayyeau all died before her.
