Emily E. Lumley, Nathaniel Smith

Emily Elise Lumley, Irvington, and Nathaniel Robert Smith, Irvington, announce their engagement.

Miss Lumley, daughter of Jeffrey and Rebecca Gerrish, Potsdam, graduated in 2005 from Madrid-Waddington Central School, Madrid, and in 2009 from Worcester (Mass.) Polytechnic Institute, with a bachelor's degree in biology and biotechnology, and a minor in civil engineering. She is a first-year student at New York Medical College, Valhalla.

Mr. Smith, son of Gerald and Jeanne Smith, Madrid, graduated in 2004 from Holderness (N.H.) School and in 2008 from Babson College, Babson Park, Mass., with a bachelor's degree in business management, with a major of finance and entrepreneurship. He is a business analyst for Summitas LLC, Manhattan.

An Aug. 6 wedding is planned.
