CLAYTON — Cleanup of the former Frink America site is complete, state Environmental Conservation Commissioner Alexander B. "Pete" Grannis announced Friday morning at the Antique Boat Museum.
According to a press release, the state Department of Environmental Conservation, in consultation with the state Department of Health, determined that the site no longer poses a threat to human health or the environment.
The town of Clayton and the Clayton Local Development Corp. acquired the 8.4-acre property in 2005 and finished the $2.5 million site excavation project in 2008.
Six state grants covered $2 million of the cost, with the rest made up by private and municipal funds.
The development corporation plans to hire a developer this summer to transform the riverfront property into a mixed-use site that could include commercial and residential properties, hotels, condos and marinas.
