City school board approves $500,000 loan

The Watertown City School District Board of Education at its meeting Tuesday night approved:

■ A $500,000 loan from the general fund to the federal fund.

■ A change order for plumbing at Starbuck Elementary School, giving the district a $10,334.38 credit.

■ A change order for electrical work at Starbuck Elementary School, giving the district a $14,253.61 credit.

■ Formation of nine extracurricular clubs at Watertown High School, including the Recycling Team Club, Guitar Club, Cyclone Buddies Club, Friends for Change, Frisbee Club and Good News Club.

■ Abolishing one 10-month, four-hour-per-day teacher assistant position.

■ Creation of one 10-month, six-hour-per-day teacher assistant position.

■ Five student trips: two swim tournaments, two wrestling tournaments and one choral competition.

■ Maternity leaves for Lynne Bates, effective May 1, Mackenzie Dickinson, effective April 7, and Tara Elmer, effective May 28.

■ Leaves of absence for teacher aide Rhonda Bezanilla for education, effective Jan. 18 to May 17, special-education teacher Kevin Sanders for military, effective Jan. 22 to April 9, and teacher aide DelNora Whittier for family medical leave, effective Jan. 26.

■ Resignations for the purpose of retirement for custodian John Britton, effective March 1, and teacher assistant Jill Commeret, effective Feb. 13.

■ Resignation of noon monitor Ruby Pierce, effective Jan. 16.
