LOWVILLE — The Lewis County Sheriff’s Department is looking for witnesses who can link a black and gray Dodge Dakota to a series of camp and residential burglaries that have been occurring since mid-January in the Tug Hill region.
Leads have been developed indicating that two men aged in their 20s have used the truck, an older model two-wheel drive vehicle having a red pin stripe, during the commission of break-ins in the towns of Harrisburg, Pinckney and Montague, said Investigator Devere Rumble. He asked informants to call the sheriff’s office at 376-3511, and promised confidentiality.
Mr. Rumble said the intruders are passing up the normal booty in house burglaries, settling on small amounts of cash. His department has received complaints involving 13 camps and two homes, he said. One of the latter is owned by people who are away for the winter. He decline to identify the crime victims.
