Feb. 10, 2000:Canton College of Technology will construct two new buildings on its campus as part of a $20 million expansion and renovation project. The college plans to build a $10.9 million campus center and a $4 million veterinary science technology building.

25 years ago

Feb. 10, 1985:Rezoning of a parcel of land on Coffeen Street as a site for military family housing has been complicated by a proposal to build a covered shopping mall next door. The parcel abuts the Forepaugh property, which lies just east of Stateway Plaza and north of the Golden Lion Restaurant. There a Buffalo real estate developer has proposed to build a covered mall.

50 years ago

Feb. 10, 1960:Completion of the first phase of the new Mercy Hospital is expected by April 15. The first phase is the new four-story structure with basement floor at the northwest corner of Sherman and Stone streets. The second phase is the connecting structure to the existing hospital, a project estimated to take six months.

75 years ago

Feb. 10, 1935:The board of education will hold a special meeting at which time teachers' contracts will be approved and their salary scale for the coming year determined. Watertown teachers are now subject to a salary cut ranging from 10 percent to 15 percent.

100 years ago

Feb. 10, 1910:To supply clothing for the poor children in the city, the Salvation Army has reorganized its sewing circle, and sewing machines will be placed in the Salvation Army barracks. Ensign Rushton H. Stubbs says that owing to rummage sales conducted by churches, it is almost impossible for the army to get any old clothing. Those who haven't got enough money do not get any.

125 years ago

Feb. 10, 1885:The Neptune Hose & Steamer Co. No. 1 will give another party at its house on Factory Street Friday evening. All ladies holding invitations to previous parties are cordially invited to attend.
