Lacona church wins grant for roof on soup kitchen

LACONA — North Country Christian Church will receive a grant from the U.S. Department of Agriculture to build a roof on the church's soup kitchen.

The $15,010 grant is part of the department's Rural Development Community Facilities Program, which provides grants to public entities, special-purpose districts and nonprofits in areas with 20,000 people or fewer to aid essential services.

A grant presentation will be at noon today at the church, 49 Salisbury St.
