Great Lakes Underwater set Saturday in Oswego

OSWEGO — The 2010 Great Lakes Underwater has added new programs to the event from 9 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturday at the SUNY Oswego campus center auditorium.

Henry Spang will speak about the OMF Ontario, a floating maritime classroom.

Raymond I. "Skip" Couch, a founding member of the Clayton Diving Club, will share details of more than three dozen ships lost to natural disaster in the Thousand Islands.

James Sears, New York State Divers Association, will talk about four destinations where divers can explore shipwrecks.

The keynote speaker is Jim Kennard, a deep-wreck explorer who will discuss the discovery of the HMS Ontario, a British warship that sank in Lake Ontario in 1780.
