CHARLOTTESVILLE, Va. — Top-ranked Syracuse staged a late rally, but couldn't overcome a 7-0 run by No. 2 Virginia and lost to the Cavaliers 11-10 on Sunday in men's lacrosse.
The Orange (2-1) trailed 10-6 at the beginning of the fourth quarter before scoring four of the game's last five goals. Syracuse had a chance to tie the game late. But SU never got off a shot and turned the ball over with 14 seconds left.
Chris Daniello led the Orange with a personal-best five points. Juniors Stephen Keogh, Thompson and redshirt sophomore Tim Desko each had two goals.

Pat Considine scored the winning run from first base with one out in the bottom of the seventh inning to give St. Lawrence University (2-1) a 5-4 win over Haverford College.
Haverford won the first game 6-0, holding the Saints (2-1) to just one hit.

Junior Melissa Rogers and senior Amy Atkins combined for 10 RBI's, leading St. Lawrence (3—1) to a pair of victories in Fort Myers, Fla.
Rogers was 3-for-4 and had four RBI's in an 8-3 win over Washington College, while Atkins had two home runs and five RBI's in a 14-0 rout against Rockford.
