Notable donations
Potsdam
Challenge:BrothersCharlie and Sam Helenbrookrecently presented the staff of Potsdam Animal Shelter with a donation of $55. The money, combined with a donation from their parents, Brian and Julie Helenbrook, reserved a "leaf of love" in honor of their family dog, "Kayla." A wooden giving tree, displayed in the new shelter, is decorated with leaves at $200 donation increments that also can be pledged over time.
Dr. Michael and Barbara Maresca have donated $60,000 and challenged the community to raise a matching amount, wherein the couple will donate another $60,000. The total donations will be used to break ground for Potsdam Human Society's new building at 17 Madrid Ave., when weather permits. For more information, or to donate online, visit www.potsdamhumanesociety.org.
