Paul J. Ashwood

THERESA — Paul J. Ashwood, 44 of Nolan Road died Saturday, March 6, 2010 after being stricken while at the Evans Mills Fire Hall.

Born September 26, 1965 in Watertown, he was the son of Richard and Barbara Brown Ashwood, and graduated from Willow Run High School, Ypsilanti, Michigan in 1983.

He married Sherry Brant of Ilion on July 15, 1994 in Theresa, NY.

Mr. Ashwood was a corrections officer at the Gouverneur Correctional Facility, Gouverneur for 20 years.

He was a member of the Evans Mills Fire Department and was the cook. He also enjoyed cooking for parties, driving his Case International tractor and loved to assist other people.

Survivors including his wife, are his mother, Barbara Ashwood, Evans Mills; 2 sons, Troy Ashwood, KY and Matthew Murray, Theresa; 2 daughters, Sarah Ashwood, at home and Christine Brant and her companion, Mike Ayen, Antwerp; 3 brothers and a sister-in-law, Steve and Debbie, Chaumont, Jeff, Dexter and Robert, Evans Mills; 2 sisters and their husbands, Rhonda and Michael Cuffee, Missouri and Amber and Randy Lester, Alaska; a granddaughter, Haley Ayen, Antwerp; nieces and nephews.

His father, Richard Ashwood died before him.

The funeral will be 11:00 a.m. Friday at Frederick Bros. Funeral Home, Inc., Theresa with Rev. Mark Reilly, St. Theresa Avila Catholic Church, Theresa officiating. Burial will be at Evans Mills Cemetery.

Calling hours are Thursday 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. at the funeral home in Theresa.
