March 10, 2000:The wrecking ball could be smashing into the former J.C. Penney store and several nearby Arsenal Street buildings as soon as late April. Watertown and Jefferson County officials are hammering out the details for moving ahead on a demolition project that will clear the way for the planned county court complex.

March 10, 1985:Workmen have been cleaning and repainting the top and sides of the interior dome in the rotunda at Flower Memorial Library's main entrance on Washington Street. The stained glass window on the top of the dome also is being cleaned, along with the marble walls on the side of the rotunda.

March 10, 1960:In spite of near zero temperature, workmen poured 134 yards of concrete in construction of the new J.C. Penney department store, Arcade and Arsenal streets, completing approximately one-third of the floor space.

March 10, 1935:Massena, St. Lawrence County, site of the world's largest aluminum plant, produced approximately 18,169 tons of aluminum last year, the bureau of mines announced, or more than any other nation of the world, Germany, alone excepted. The Massena plant produced 54 percent of the output of the United States, which amounted to 33,646 metric tons.

March 10, 1910:The International Paper mill strike is spreading daily. In addition to the shutdown of the South Glens Falls plant, the mill at Niagara Falls closed yesterday, and this afternoon the mill at Fort Edward will close, making five mills of the company which are not running.

March 10, 1885:There has been issued from the Times job printing department a very neat pamphlet titled, "This Parish Year Book of Trinity Church." The little volume is filled with statistical and other matters of interest to Trinity Church attendants, including a list of communicants, 545 in number.
