CLAYTON — The funeral for Mr. William F. Sharp "Wild Bill" will be at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday March 13th at the T. R. Jetty Funeral Home in Clayton. Calling hours will be from 10:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m. prior to the funeral service. Spring burial will be held at Riverside Cemetery on Wellesley Island. Following the service there will be a reception held at the Fishers Landing Fire Department.
Mr. Sharp died Saturday March 5th at Mercy of Northern NY.
Bill was born May 27th 1916 in Waterloo NY, the son of Charles and Mary Sharp. He married the former Arvilla Waterson of Wellesley Island on December 22nd 1944. Arvilla died September 3rd 1979 in Alexandria Bay at age 58. He was a gardener at Captain Ogden on Wellesley Island for over twenty years, a grinder at Frink's Snow Plow, and an active member and volunteer for the Paynter Senior Center.
He was a 39 year member of the Fishers Landing Fire Department He received the lifetime achievement award from the Jefferson County Fire Police Association in 2002. He was named the Fire Policeman of the year in 2006.
He is survived by one daughter and her husband Kandy and Robert Bender of Clayton, one son and his wife Fred and Laura Schneider of LaFargeville, five grandchildren, two great-grandchildren and Nieces and nephews.
