Jane A. Godfrey, 76, Gill St., died Wednesday morning with her family at her side and Hospice of Jefferson County.

The funeral for Mrs. Godfrey will be Saturday, March 13th, 12 noon at the Reed & Benoit Funeral Home. Burial will follow in North Watertown Cemetery. Calling hours are Friday from 4 p.m. - 6 p.m. at the funeral home. Contributions may be made to the American Cancer Society or to a charity for the benefit of abandon and abused animals.

She was born in Watertown September 12, 1933, a daughter of Howard and Helen Browski Metz. She graduated from Watertown High School. Jane married Carl E. "Ted" Godfrey October 4, 1952. Mr. and Mrs. Godfrey opened the Dan Dee Donuts Store of Watertown in 1967 and operated it for several years. She later worked for Dr. Lustick and retired as secretary for the Local 910 IBEW after 20 plus years of service. Mr. Godfrey, a 23 year retiree with the US Army and supervisor at Borden, Inc., died April 20, 1998.

Mrs. Godfrey enjoyed her cats, crocheting, casino trips, Bingo and spending time with her family.

Jane is survived by three daughters and their husbands, Linda and Mike Converse, Watertown; Jeanette and Jim Lettiere, Clayton; Robin and Dave Tanner, Watertown. 8 grandchildren, 6 great grandchildren. A sister, Louise Horning, Watertown. Several nieces and nephews.

Besides her husband and parents, Mrs. Godfrey was predeceased by a son, Arthur J., February 4, 2001 and two brothers, David and Edward Metz.
