CARTHAGE — John Arthur Sullivan, 75, of 24005 Pennock Road, died Wednesday morning, March 10, 2010, in the Carthage Area Hospital.

Mr. Sullivan was born in Carthage on August 6, 1934, the son of the late John E. and Ella M. Moore Sullivan. He was a 1952 graduate of Augustinian Academy, Carthage and the Watertown School of Commerce. He served in the Army in the military police, serving in France and Germany. Following his discharge, he was the parts manager for Massaro Detroit Diesel in Syracuse for 15 years. He married the former Pauline J. Chase in Syracuse on September 23, 1967. The couple moved to Carthage in 1979. Mrs. Sullivan died on November 15, 1988. He retired from Champion International in Deferiet in June of 1993 after working in the shipping department for 14 years.

He was a member of BPOE Lodge # 1762, Carthage, Knights of Columbus Council # 291, Carthage and a former Director of the Wilna-Champion Transportation Assoc.

He is survived by his two sons and their wives: John A. and Paula Sullivan II of Adams and Patrick W. and Katrina Sullivan of Pine Bush, NY, 4 Grandchildren: Joshua, Matthew, Stella and Christopher, his fiancée Amy Huff of Carthage, a sister: Mary Rita Sullivan of Rockhill, SC, a brother: David M. Sullivan of Natural Bridge and nieces and nephews.

Funeral services will be held on Saturday, 11:00am at St. James Catholic Church with the Rev. George F. Maroun, Pastor officiating. Burial will be in the Hillside Cemetery, Natural Bridge. Calling hours at the Bezanilla-McGraw Funeral Home will be on Friday from 3-7pm.

In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to Augustinian Academy, 317 West St. Carthage or to a charity of one's choice.
