FORT MYERS, Fla. — Chris Cook struck out five and gave up just one run to lead the St. Lawrence University baseball team to a 3-2 victory over North Park College in a nonconference game Thursday.
The Saints (5-1) earned the win against North Park pitcher Mike Giovenko, who was drafted by the Minnesota Twins last year but opted to stay in school.
Ethan Braddock went 2-for-3 for SLU, which scored two runs in the seventh inning to take a 3-1 lead.

BEARS SPLIT
Brittany Palowski hit her first collegiate home run and also pitched seven innings to lead SUNY Potsdam (3-5) to a 5-4 win over Dallas in a nonconference game in Fort Myers, Fla. She drove in three runs and struck out six.
The Bears lost their second game of the day, falling 8-0 to St. Mary's.
SAINTS SWEEP
Melissa Rogers hit a home run in the opener to lead SLU (7-3) to a 9-5 victory over New Jersey City in a nonconference game in Fort Myers, Fla. SLU followed that with a 9-0 win over Wheelock College.
Amy Atkins also homered in the game for the Saints. Liz McGinley drove in two runs for SLU against Wheelock.
WOMEN'S LACROSSE
ST. LAWRENCE 12, WESLEYAN 9
Seven different players scored for the Saints (2-0) in a nonconference win over Wesleyan in West Palm Beach, Fla.
Alanna Piroli led the Saints with four goals, and Lexi Wisnowski added three goals for the Saints.
NORDIC SKIING
KNOWLES PLACES 32ND
SLU's Benjamin Knowles finished in 32nd place in the men's 10-kilometer classic race at the NCAA Championships in Colorado Springs.
Colorado's Matt Gelso was the overall winner in 29 minutes, 25.5 seconds. Knowles completed the course in 31:55.1.

CRAIG CONTRIBUTES TO TITLE
The Mohawk Valley Community College women's team recently won the NJCAA Region Championship in Rochester, with the help of former South Jefferson athlete Amber Craig.
Craig was a part of the winning 1,600-meter relay.
