Mr. & Mrs. Joseph Murphy -- 50 years

MORRISTOWN — Mr. and Mrs. Joseph Murphy, Route 37, plan to celebrate their 50th wedding anniversary with a family gathering this summer.

Mr. Murphy, son of Frank and Marie Mills Murphy, and Patricia Gabriel, daughter of the Rev. A. Howard and June Holland Gabriel, were married Feb. 27, 1960, at St. Mary's Cathedral, Ogdensburg, with Monsignor Joseph Bailey officiating. Honor attendants were Kathleen Gabriel Clark, sister of the bride, and John Murphy, brother of the groom.

Mrs. Murphy is a graduate of Harrisville Central School and A. Barton Hepburn School of Nursing, Ogdensburg. She is a retired school nurse from Morristown Central School.

Mr. Murphy is a graduate of St. Mary's Academy, Ogdensburg. He served two years in the Army, stationed in Germany, and retired from Verizon Communications.

They have five sons and three daughters-in-law, Stephen and Jill, Pennellville, Michael, Morristown, Mark, Liverpool, Frank and Lisa, Phelps, and Tom and Erin, Brewerton, and eight grandchildren.
