THERESA — Mr. and Mrs. Rupert N. Davis, 31022 Route 26, celebrated their 50th wedding anniversary Feb. 19 with a family dinner given by their children at Gentry's Clam Cove, Gouverneur. Granddaughter Francesca Davis played violin so they could dance on their anniversary.
Mr. Davis, son of the late George and Roseline Davis Sr., married Carol E. Harris, daughter of the late Harry D. and Dora Reese Harris, Feb. 19, 1960, at LaFargeville Methodist Church with the Rev. Frank Smith officiating.
Honor attendants were John Hirschler, friend of the groom, and Janice Card Paro, cousin of the bride.
Mr. Davis was employed for eight years at St. Regis Paper Co., Deferiet, and owned and operated a farm with his wife for 22 years in Theresa. He was also employed by the village of Theresa for 15 years and enjoys gardening and putting hay up on the farm.
Mrs. Davis was employed by several area restaurants and in food service in the Indian River Central School District, Philadelphia, from 1994 to 2005. She enjoys gardening and crossword puzzles.
They have two sons and three daughters-in-law, Frank and Elisabeth, Redwood; Philip and Heidi, Philadelphia; and Lorna Delles, widow of their son Wayne, who died in 2002, and her husband, John Delles, Theresa. They have six grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
