March 13, 2000:The city is pressing the new owner of the burned-out J.R. Miller property at 31 Public Square to secure the building and bring it into compliance with building codes. The rear building on the property was heavily damaged by fire in November 1997.

The president and chief executive officer of the Olympic Regional Development Authority feels the chance for getting the winter games back before the turn of the century is good.

March 13, 1960:An all-out "crusade" against what is termed a United Kingdom-U.S. syndicate plan to open a chain of "duty-free" stores along the U.S.-Canadian border is gaining momentum with Canadian retail merchants. They claim the plan will be a detriment rather than a boon to Canada's effort to bolster lagging U.S. tourist dollar spending.

March 13, 1935:The New York Air Brake Co. looks for an increase in railroad equipment business this year, Lowell R. Burch, president, told stockholders. He pointed out that the company is looking to the air brake conversion program rather than the purchase of new cars as a source of business improvement.

March 13, 1910:Today at the art exhibit in the S.L. George gallery is the first of the special school week. It is expected that many of the pupils will go together after school to see the pictures. It is intended to have someone in the gallery for the children to guide their powers of observation, so that the visit will be of more value to them.

March 13, 1885:The Gouverneur Herald-Times this week issued a double number in commemoration of its 18th anniversary and will soon move to its new building. The Herald is one of the best weekly papers in the state and well deserves the success it has attained. The Times extends its warmest congratulations.
