A Watertown man was sentenced Friday in Jefferson County Court to a year in the Metro-Jefferson Public Safety building jail for stealing items from a West Main Street apartment and violating probation.

John M. Vinson,33, whose last known address was 404 Arsenal St., Apt. 2, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal trespass and petit larceny stemming from the Oct. 12 incident.

He admitted that he entered the 325 W. Main St. home of Karleen R. Eveleigh and stole 12 beers, a sweatshirt and food items. He admitted violating probation by being charged with the new crimes. He will be credited for an unspecified amount of time already served. He was also ordered to pay $334 in restitution to Ms. Eveleigh.

In other court activity:

John K. Wells,28, California Avenue, pleaded guilty to second-degree criminal contempt and second-degree menacing. He is expected to be sentenced May 3 to time served and probation supervision.

He entered his pleas using a partial Alford plea, meaning he did not admit to all of the underlying facts in the case, but was pleading guilty to avoid the possibility of being convicted of a more serious offense at trial.

He admitted violating an order of protection held by Rebecca A. Chapman by arguing with her Feb. 19 at her 935 State St. residence, but denied that he threatened her with a kitchen knife, as had been alleged.

Shannon M. Larkins,31, of 7574 S. State St., Apt. 403, Lowville, pleaded guilty to third-degree burglary. Sentencing was set for May 14. Further information was not available from the court. She pleaded guilty March 5 in Lewis County Court to several charges, including third-degree burglary, in connection with a string of burglaries in that county. She is due to be sentenced there May 10.

Jennifer M. Hennigan,23, of 1017 Gill St., Apt. B, pleaded guilty to disorderly conduct and unlawful possession of marijuana, both non-criminal violations. She admitted that she possessed Ambien and a small amount of marijuana at her residence on Dec. 28. She was subsequently sentenced to a one-year conditional discharge and ordered to perform 20 hours of community service.

Tiffany A. Bouyer,23, Watertown, was arraigned on two counts each of third-degree criminal sale of a controlled substance and third-degree criminal possession of a controlled substance. The charges were contained in a grand jury indictment unsealed in court.

It is alleged that she sold cocaine twice on the same day in early November. She pleaded not guilty to the charges and was sent to the PSB on $10,000 bail.
