District accepting petitions for seats on school board

The Watertown City School District is accepting nominating petitions for seats on the Board of Education. Petition forms can be picked up at the district office, 1351 Washington St.

President Peter E. Monaco and board member Cynthia H. Bufalini both are up for re-election. Each term is five years, effective July 1. The election will take place May 18.

Petitions must have a minimum of 100 valid signatures, and they must be received by the district office no later than 5 p.m. April 29.

Candidates must be at least 18 years old, a U.S. citizen, a resident of New York state and a resident of the Watertown City School District for at least one year.

Candidates cannot hold another city office except police officer or firefighter, and must be qualified voters in the district.
