Margaret June Hudson of Theresa, Philadelphia, and Carthage, New York passed away Friday, March 11, 2010 at the Country Manor Nursing Home and Rehabilitation Center, Carthage. Mrs. Hudson passed gently and quietly in her sleep at 91 years of age.
Mrs. Hudson was predeceased by her husband Gerald and three sisters Mildred Haynes, Millicent Hale, and Marion Piper. Also, by a nephew raised by Margaret and Gerald, Francis Piper of Ormond Beach, Florida. Surviving are her daughter Carolyn Schell of Philadelphia, NY, her son and daughter-in-law, Gerry and Donna Hudson of Pulaski, NY, 10 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.
Born June 5, 1918 at Orleans Four Corners LaFargeville, NY, she was the daughter of Fred and Ina (Klock) Haynes. Mrs. Hudson graduated from Theresa High School in June of 1937. On October 28, of the same year she married Gerald Hudson. The couple owned and operated a dairy farm and cattle trucking business in the Theresa area until his death in 1963. Margaret moved to Philadelphia, NY where she resided until 2008.
Mrs. Hudson retired after being employed by the Indian River Central School District for 17 years, then worked at the Academy Street Nursing Home for 7 years She was an active member of The United Methodist Church of Theresa, then Philadelphia, a Sunday School teacher for 16 years, a longtime member of the Bentley Corners Home Bureau, and a really great Mom.
At Mrs. Hudson's request, no funeral or calling hours will be held, a spring burial and graveside service for family members will be conducted. Arrangements are with the Frederick Bros. Funeral Home. Contributions in memory of Margaret can be made to the United Methodist Church, Philadelphia, NY.
