John Starowicz, 95, of 218 Stone Street, Watertown, died early Sunday morning. There will be a graveside service at the convenience of the family. There are no calling hours. Arrangements are with the Piddock Funeral Home, Adams.

Born September 29, 1914 in Collinsville, OK, son of Frank and Julia Okreglinski Starowicz. The family moved to Dunora, Pa where he started school, then they moved to Poland where he attended school with classmate Karol Josef Wojtyla, who later became Pope John Paul II. The family moved back to the United States in 1937.

Mr. Starowicz worked on the Joseph and Julia Tontarski farm for 38 years, which later became the Dan and Florence Reed farm. He moved to Adams in 1988, later to the Vale Haven Adult Home in Mannsville, and in February 2005 he moved to the Madonna Home in Watertown.

The Florence Tontarski Reed family would like to thank the third floor staff at the Madonna Home for the care that was given to John during his residency there.
