POTSDAM — Funeral services for 78 year old Louis W. Vari, Potsdam, will be held Tuesday at 3 pm at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood with Rev. Gary Giroux, pastor of St. Mary's Church in Potsdam, presiding.
Calling hours will be held at the Buck Funeral Home in Norwood on Tuesday from 1-3 pm. A spring burial will take place in Visitation Cemetery, Norfolk.
Mr. Vari passed away Saturday evening at Canton-Potsdam Hospital.
Louis is survived by his wife Georgia, Potsdam, a son Paul, Auburn, his granddaughter Cassie Vari-Harris, Mansfield, PA, his two sisters, Mrs. Julia Guyette and Helen Santamont, both of Massena and several nieces and nephews.
He was pre-deceased by his brothers Steve, Ellis "Shine", Eleck and Joseph and his sisters, Rose and Irene Vari.
Born in Norfolk on December 12, 1931 to the late Steve and Theresa Swartzkopf Vari, he married Georgia Hooper on October 18, 1952. He worked as a maintenance person for several facilities, including the Norfolk Paper Mill and the Westminster Manor in Auburn. Louis enjoyed repairing things, fishing and gardening. He was a member of St. Mary's Church in Potsdam and previously was a member of St. Andrew's Church in Norwood.
Memorial donations can be made to Hospice and Palliative care of St. Lawrence Valley.
