Watertown police say a man loaded and cocked a shotgun Sunday afternoon while making threatening comments to another man on East Lynde Street.

Both the gunman and the victim were arrested, though in unrelated investigations.

Travis M. Lashure, 18, of 25887 Bonney Road, is charged with second-degree menacing and fourth-degree criminal possession of a weapon, a 12-gauge shotgun. Police did not allege that he actually pointed the gun at the complainant, Earlson L. Newell, 22, of 207 E. Lynde St., Apt. 2.

During the investigation, officers determined that Mr. Newell was named on warrants issued following an incident June 27, 2008. He faces three counts of endangering the welfare of a child for allegedly leaving three children, two boys, ages 4 and 14 months, and a girl, 4, unattended at 165 High St.
