HENDERSON — The Town Council on Thursday unanimously appointed former board member Steven C. Cote to the fill the vacant council seat.

Supervisor Raymond A. Walker said Mr. Cote is familiar with how the board works and shows dedication despite frequent absences in the past.

"He has experience on the board already," Mr. Walker said, "and right now we need someone who has experience."

Councilwomen Torre J. Parker-Lane and Carol A. Hall said the choice was difficult for them because Robert E. Aliasso, who also interviewed for the position, also was a very qualified candidate.

"The people who put me in office also wanted to put Rob in office too," Ms. Hall said.

Mr. Aliasso lost the November election by eight votes.

The council also unanimously appointed Todd R. Hyman to the Planning Board, and Francis N. Sibrava was reappointed zoning enforcement officer in a 3-1 vote, with Mr. Walker, Ms. Hall and Councilman Frank W. Ross voting in favor and Ms. Parker-Lane dissenting.
