LOWVILLE — The village is seeking approval to use $88,000 from loan program repayments to help supplement a planned state Department of Transportation reconstruction project.
The money — $26,000 for facade improvements and $62,000 in a housing revolving loan fund — stems from programs for housing and downtown development created from past federal Community Development Block Grants, according to a release from Snow Belt Housing Co. Inc., which administers the programs.
DOT this spring is slated to begin a $6 million, 1.1-mile Route 12 reconstruction project through the village.
The village plans to chip in $850,000 to reconstruct about 350 feet of Shady Avenue, replace water and sewer lines, fund streetscape improvements and pave the new parking area off Parkway Drive in conjunction with the DOT project.
The process requires that two public hearings be held. One was March 3 and another is slated for 5:30 p.m. April 7 at the village office on Dayan Street.
